Lectio Divina
|
|
Divine Reading or Listening. A very ancient art, practiced at one time by all Christians, is the technique known as lectio divina – a slow, contemplative praying of the Scriptures which enables the Bible, the Word of God, to become a means of union with God.

Stillpoint History
Stillpoint was begun as a resource and mentor program for emerging spiritual directors. The core of the program, therefore, is the series of year-long courses in spirituality and contemplative prayer intended to support this ministry. These courses are not limited to persons already engaged in the ministry of spiritual direction, but are also open to those who find themselves moving toward such ministry or who desire to deepen their own spiritual formation. Course offerings vary somewhat from year to year, with the foundational course and at least one contemplative program always being offered.
As an outgrowth of this intensive program, Stillpoint has also begun offering short courses and workshops intended for a wider audience. Participants in such programs might include those who cannon afford the time for a year-long course, persons who are exploring a new call to ministry in their local congregations, or those who simply have interest in a single workshop or short course topic. These programs allow participants to become better acquainted with the Stillpoint community before enrolling in the full course.
Stillpoint was created to provide opportunities for learning and prayer for emerging spiritual directors. It has responded to the needs of those directores by establishing programs of contemplative study and a community of prayer.
Stillpoint programs combine elements of education and experience. Within each program are components of journey and safety, expression and surrender, development of future and value of tradition.
Stillpoint is a community lured by God into being, a place of payer and openness to God – and a place of welcome.
