THE MOVEMENTS OF THE SPIRIT

This workshop, based on Rebecca Laird's forth coming book Spiritual Formation, showcases Henri Nouwen's life long effort to re construct the five classical stages of spiritual development as movements in the journey of faith. Readings, stories, questions for personal reflection, and guided journal inquiry as articulated by Nouwen will provide us with an experience in spiritual formation. Rebecca Laird is Director of Ministry Formation at the Theological School of Drew University. She works with seminary students in spiritual formation and vocational discernment. She is an ordained minister and spiritual director. Rebecca graduated from the Pacific School of Religion in berkeley, CA and received her D.Min. from Drew Theological School. She collaborated with the husband, Michael Chistensen, on three books based on the works of Henri Nouwen. Our workshop begins with supper at 5:00 on Thursday, May 20, and concludes at 11:30 on Saturday, May 22. It will be held at the Mercy Retreat Center.
